Well, I've been to the doctors a few times in the last week, to get some things checked out. Basically, I've lost a little weight.
Now, as anyone who has met me can attest, I have precious little weight to lose, so when I found I'd lost a few kilos over a couple of weeks, at one point dropping almost 2kgs in 2 days, I started getting a bit worried. With Ma being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year (which causes weight loss) I figured I'd better get that checked out. The doc weighed me and told me that I was underweight, despite getting a reading about 4 KGs heavier on his crappy old scales than I got on our swanky electronic scales at home, so that was nice. I then booked in to get a blood test on Monday this week, something I wasn't looking forwards to having blacked out last time I was intimately involved with needles. I took it lying down though, which makes it impossible to faint, and then today I got my results.
Everything was normal, except for my TriGlycerides, which is a type of fat. Apparently this means I'm "skinny" according to my doctor. Yes, I go through all that to be told that I need to put on some weight, like I didn't already know this.
Still, this led to some interesting lunchtime web surfing, learning about Triglycerides. Apparently if you WANT low triglycerides (and generally this is the case) you need to cut back on carbs, fat and increase aerobic exercise. I don't exercise, and I eat alot of carbs and fat...
Apparently reducing alcohol consumption also helps reduce triglycerides, so I'll make sure to have a couple of extra beers tonight to compensate.
You are all welcome to hate me now.
The upshot of all this is that I'm going to just keep an eye on my weight, I predict that it'll probably start going back up again when my sleep cycles get back to normal (when we've finished dog sitting) and I'll soon be back to my usual levels of skinniness.
Ciao!

I weight myself every day, just to monitor my weight status from day to day. Being skinny is a recommended condition for long life, so I reckon you're doing well!
Well, at this rate, I'm either going to live for ever or die of malnutrition. One of the two.
Last night I went out for curry, and I ate quite a bit. This morning I weighed in at a hopping 64.8Kgs.
This gives me a BMI of 19.3. Apparently normal is 18.5 to 24.9 so I'm still considered normal, which I think might actually be rather frightening in itself. In order to be considered underweight, I'd need to lose another 2.8Kgs (according to
The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute). That seems ridiculously light, but then, I've seen that alot of these charts seem skewed towards the skinny end of the scale.
